The role

We are seeking a talented epidemiologist/biostatistician, with a relevant PhD/MSc or equivalent experience to work with us on the biological mechanisms behind human scarring. This will be work using human genetics, mouse and zebrafish models to explore the aetiology of wound healing and scarring. You will work within the Medical Research Council Integrative Epidemiology Unit at the University of Bristol (MRC-IEU, https://www.bristol.ac.uk/integrative-epidemiology/) and Population Health Sciences in the Bristol Medical School (http://www.bristol.ac.uk/medical-school/research/population-health-sciences/). Whilst based on scarring, the key component of this work will be analysis of large scale population studies to identify genetic variants associated with complex human phenotypes and which may be used within multiple approaches to triangulate evidence around findings suitable for testing in biological models – a core set of skills applicable to multiple phenotypic domains. 

What will you be doing?

Work will focus on the analysis of population-based data to identify genetic variants associated with complex human phenotypes and using this to identify suitable targets for testing in biological models. At the core of the project, data sources will include the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children (www.bristol.ac.uk/alspac), The Pelotas Study, Brazil (www.epidemio-ufpel.org.br/site/content/cpe-en/history.php) and from collaborative work with the Fibrosis Genetics Consortium.

You have a PhD or MSc + equivalent research experience in epidemiology or biostatistics
