We have two part time (0.1FTE) posts are available from September 2023 on a fixed term contract until end December 2024, with the likelihood of being extended. These part-time posts would need to be worked on a Friday morning. 

The Role

The primary purpose of the supervisor role is the delivery of CBT clinical supervision and the evaluation of trainee competency in CBT. The CBT psychotherapist will work using standard approaches to CBT supervision; further training and supervision of supervision will be provided.

Working with the programme team, you will collaborate on the design, development and production of clinical supervision and learning material within the programme, delivering within the specified clinical models of CBT. You will work with other supervisors and the Clinical and Programme Leads to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of clinical supervision within the teaching programme in accord with the College’s education strategy and implementing the External Affairs strategy. You may also contribute directly to teaching in relation to the development of clinical skills within the specified clinical area and to the development and implementation of innovative teaching practices in relation to clinical supervision.

Specific Purposes of the Job: 

  • Act as independent practitioner, supervising the formulation and implementation of appropriate treatment plans for trainees undertaking training.
  • Receive training in supervision andsupervision of supervision. 
  • Work alongside clinical supervisors, academics, trainers and clinicians to provide a high qualitysupervisory service. 
  • Undertake marking and assess clinical competency of trainees with a range of approaches as required, and write supervision reports.
  • Keep records of supervision sessions and reflectively discuss clinical cases with the supervisory team.
  • Implement policies and propose changes to practices, procedures for your own area of work and propose policy or service changes which impact beyond their own area for the wider training and clinic settings.
  • Liaise with trainees’ clinical supervisors within their workplace.

About you

For a Supervisor post you will:

  • Possess a depth or breadth of specialist knowledge demonstrated by post-graduate level training or the necessary equivalent experience and training to support their ongoing BABCP Accreditation.
  • The successful applicant will possess an in-depth understanding of CBT for Personality Disorders or CBT for Psychosis and Bipolar Disorder, CBT training, and CBT clinical supervision to facilitate the development of trainee therapists towards competent CBT practice for personality disorders.
  • Use a range of delivery techniques to enthuse and engage students.
  • Participate in and develop external networks, for example, to contribute to student recruitment, secure student placements, facilitate outreach work, generate income, obtain consultancy projects, or build relationships for future activities.
