Research Associate at University of Hull

This exciting post is available as part of the supported project funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research. This project is a collaboration between the University of Hull, King’s College London, the University of Sheffield, and Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The supported study aims to explore the best ways to support and train home care workers to deliver good end of life care. Homecare workers, alongside other health staff play a vital role in providing quality care for people wishing to stay at home at end of life. We aim to understand the experience of homecare workers, their clients, homecare managers and other health staff involved to develop appropriate end of life skills and support for homecare workers. We will use the knowledge gained to inform the content of a training resource for homecare workers.

The Band 6 Research Associate will work with our research team across three sites to undertake interviews with homecare workers, service users and their families, homecare managers, and other health professionals, and analyse, write up and disseminate research findings. Travel for workshops and data collection may be required.

The post-holder will be based within the Wolfson Palliative Care Research Centre www.hyms.ac.uk/research/research-centres-and-groups/wolfson, working closely with the Social and Psychological Research in Long-term Conditions (SPARC) research group www.hull.ac.uk/work-with-us/research/groups/social-and-psychological-research-in-long-term-conditions-sparc.

The post-holder will have, or be working towards, a PhD in a relevant discipline, have experience of qualitative data collection and analysis as well as presenting results, experience of research in health and social care, of drafting research reports and contributing to drafting scientific publications.
