About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Scientist to join our team and take a leading role in the analysis of electronic health records (EHR) for signatures related to safety in patients with multiple long-term conditions. The role is part of the patient safety research collaborative, a major collaboration with Newcastle University, funded by the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR).
The ideal candidate should have a strong background in healthcare data analysis, experience with LLMs and Knowledge Graphs, some understanding of good research practice in trusted research environments.
About You
You will have a good first degree, Masters, or a PhD (or equivalent) in a data science orientated field with an emphasis on large-scale analysis of health data using machine learning and AI along with advanced skills in data analytics in a command line environment, with demonstrated coding expertise in one or more of: Python, Java or R. Experience in LLM and knowledge graph integration is desirable, although not essential. Data manipulation and visualisation skills are essential.
About the Team
Our team are working at the intersection of healthcare and technology, applying machine learning and AI to structured biomedical data warehouses. We are based across two campuses at the Digital Environment Research Institute, Whitechapel, and the William Harvey Research Institute, Charterhouse Square. This is a unique opportunity to join a new and impactful team working across the translational spectrum with a diverse community of researchers.

The post is based jointly at the Charterhouse Square and Whitechapel Campuses in London. It is a full-time fixed-term appointment for approx. 5 years with an expected start date in Sept 2023. The starting salary will be Grade 5 (£41,386 – £48,414) per annum (pro-rata), inclusive of London Allowance.
