We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Assistant to contribute to looking to develop expertise in process evaluations of school-based trials and/or gender-based violence interventions. You will contribute to a national evaluation of Equally Safe at School, a project designed to address gender-based violence in Scottish secondary schools (www.equallysafeatschool.org.uk). You will undertake qualitative fieldwork and analysis to evaluate the process of implementing Equally Safe at School, with a focus on understanding barriers and facilitators to embedding the intervention within the school system. You will be part of a large, dynamic team and make a vital contribution to ensuring the success of the trial.

You will also support other research projects across the Relationships and Health Programme at the MRC/CSO Social and Public Health Sciences Unit (SPHSU). This includes projects focused on adolescent friendship networks and sexual wellbeing. You will work with the Programme Lead (Prof. Kirstin Mitchell) and the Principal Investigators of each project to provide support including: writing proposals/study protocols, designing topic guides, conducting interviews, analysing qualitative data, helping write scientific articles, and helping develop outputs to share research findings beyond academia (e.g, project newsletters, blogs, research briefings, short videos, etc.).

The Relationships and Health Programme is one of five interlinked research programmes in the MRC/CSO Social and Public Health Sciences Unit. Our research focuses on human relationships in couples, families, peer groups, and communities. We investigate how relationships affect health; we improve methods for impactful research on relationships and health; and we co-produce and evaluate relationship-focused solutions to public health priorities. Our research topics are broad, and include gender-based violence, sexual health and wellbeing, adolescent mental health, and loneliness. For more information about our programme please see here:
