The School of Health and Social Care has an excellent reputation for teaching and research.  Our academic members of staff include occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, psychological therapists, nurses, social workers, oral health practitioners and sociologists.  The School is run over two campuses; Southend and Colchester. Academic staff are supported by a team of administrative staff based at both Colchester and Southend campuses.

The School of Health and Social Care is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Occupational Therapy.

Duties of the Role

You will take an active part in the delivery and development of the Occupational Therapy programmes in the School. This role will require management, administration and organisation alongside support of students on our existing programmes, and generally enhancing our research-led teaching in Occupational Therapy.

Duties will include engaging effectively in substantive teaching and learning support roles in the School, supervising student projects, fieldwork and placements and incorporating subject and pedagogic research and/or scholarship into learning and assessment as part of an integrated approach to academic practice.

Qualifications and Skills required

The successful candidate will have a relevant degree or be close to completion or equivalent professional experience or practice and HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist or an equivalent EU / International registration. We welcome applications from all areas of practice but an interest or experience in Social Care or Community Practice would add to the variety of the current Occupational Therapy division.

Experience of contributing to designing and planning learning activities, developing effective learning environments and approaches to student/client support and guidance; experience in Occupational Therapy; and strong communication skills, both written and verbal are all essential for this post.
