Salary: Grade 8 £37,386 – £43,155 per annum together with USS pension benefits

Contract: This is a permanent position (full time, 35 hours); applications for part time will be considered.

Location: This position will be based at Singleton Campus

We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Physician Associate Studies to join the team delivering the Masters in Physician Associate Studies (MPAS) at Swansea University Medical School (https://www.swansea.ac.uk/postgraduate/taught/medicine/physician-associate-studies-mpas/). As a lecturer on the MPAS programme you will teach across the programme, particularly communication, and clinical skills, and on the Foundations in Clinical Medicine (FCM) module and you will be expected to support the organisation of this module. The postholder also will be expected to contribute assessments, act as an academic mentor and participate in admissions interviews. Swansea University’s Physician Associate (PA) Studies programme was established in 2016 and has a successful track record of teaching, student support, progression, and success at the PA national exam. The MPAS programme runs over two years, with roughly half of the time spent in university and the other half on placement. The programme has several modules and content is taught based on the draft PA curriculum (FPA 2022) and the PA and AA generic and shared leaning outcomes (GMC, 2022). There is a mixture of staff on the programme from various healthcare professions which adds to the richness and diversity of the teaching and experiences we can offer to students. The role provides an exciting opportunity to join Swansea University Medical School, one of the UK’s leading Medical Schools.

The Medical School is a progressive, dynamic, and aspirational part of the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Science located on the Singleton Campus of Swansea University and provides an interdisciplinary approach, educating and training the next generation of doctors, life scientists, and health professionals. It collaborates with the NHS, business and the third sector in a spirit of open innovation and has established itself as a world-class place to learn, research and innovate. The Medical School ranks top 5 for research quality (REF2021) and is consistently highly ranked in various subject-specific teaching league tables. The Medical School became the first department within the University to achieve an Equality Challenge Unit (ECU) Athena SWAN Charter Silver Award in 2015, and this was re-awarded in 2019 in recognition of its commitment to equality. The University also holds the Athena SWAN Charter Silver Award. Swansea is a great place to live and work, the gateway to the Gower with its fantastic beaches and close to the Brecon Beacons (Bannau Brycheiniog).

A satisfactory DBS certificate must be provided before a start date can be confirmed.
