Full Time Permanent

Closing Date: Thursday 10 August 2023

Interview Date: To be confirmed

We are looking to appoint a full time Senior Teaching Fellow in Audiology.

You will be passionate about inspiring the next generation of Audiologists by delivering innovative and engaging teaching.

The role will involve supporting teaching activities on the BSc and MSc in Audiology at the University of Southampton, for example through delivering modules, engaging in clinical skills teaching, supporting & assessing students on clinical placement and supervising students carrying out research projects.

The exact teaching requirement could be tailored to the strengths of a successful candidate. There can also be opportunities to develop research, clinical or consultancy activities depending on an individual’s strengths/goals and we aim to support staff in career development more generally.

Clinical registration to work in the UK in Audiology is essential to the post (for example RCCP, AHS or HCPC). Teaching experience is desirable, as is a teaching qualification such as the post-graduate certificate of Academic Practice, although training towards a teaching qualification could be part of the role. Some research experience is desirable, as it would help with supporting students carrying out research projects, but it is not essential

The University of Southampton is a unique place in which to explore what you are capable of: as one of the world’s top universities, we know what it takes to create an exceptional student experience. Our Institute of Sound and Vibration Research (ISVR) is one of the UK’s top research institutes at the forefront of pioneering research and education in Audiology with a long history of success since its inception 60 years ago, delivering exceptional academic courses underpinned by a dynamic culture of innovation and research. We take pride in the departments uniquely collaborative team spirit, in which our colleagues support one another in their endeavours.

We particularly encourage women, Black, Asian & minority ethnic, LGBT+ and disabled applicants to apply for this position. In recognition of our continued commitment to improving equality for women in science we were awarded an Athena SWAN bronze in 2013 and 2016.  We consider applicants that wish to work flexibly including part-time and due consideration will be given to applicants who have taken a career break. The University has a generous maternity policy* and onsite childcare facilities.

This commits all our staff and students to take responsibility for managing their activities to minimise harm to the environment, whether this through switching off non-essential electrical equipment or using the recycling facilities.
