Hull York Medical School has been training Physician Associates (PA’s) since 2016. Our students undertake an intensive two-year Masters (MSc) Programme in Physician Associate (PA) Studies to meet the requirements of the new National Curriculum, published by the General Medical Council. We aim to recruit from the local biosciences graduate population, and train and retain PAs as valuable members of the healthcare workforce within the region. Our programme is medically led and delivered in collaboration with our NHS partners.

This is an exciting opportunity for a PA graduate to join the academic faculty at the Hull York Medical School as a Lecturer, contribute to the delivery of our MSc in PA Studies programme, develop their education and leadership skills, whilst maintaining an active role in clinical practice as a practising PA in General Practice at Modality Partnership in Hull. The role will be split 0.5FTE academic (University) vs 0.5FTE clinical (Modality General Practice).

You will be a qualified PA and a member of the UK PA Managed Voluntary Register actively working in a clinical role. You will be able to demonstrate your enthusiasm and commitment to teaching, learning and assessment supported by experience and if possible, an academic qualification in healthcare education or aspiration to achieve this. You will be an excellent teacher, role model and mentor, always setting a high standard. You will have outstanding personal qualities including communication, team- working, organisational and presentation skills, with the ability to work effectively, responsibly and under pressure, both independently and with colleagues and students.

To discuss this role informally please contact Dr Andy Brown (Programme Director, MSc in PA Studies) andrew.brown@hyms.ac.uk or Dr Elizabeth Dobson (Senior Partner, Modality Partnership) elizabethdobson@nhs.net
