About the role

You will develop and carry out independent research, contributing as a team member to the MRC-funded project on “Novel approaches of multi-parameter evidence synthesis and decision modelling for efficient evaluation of diagnostic health technologies“, based within the Biostatistics Research Group in the Department of Health Sciences at the University of Leicester and in collaboration with colleagues at the Universities of Glasgow, Sheffield, Warwick and Swansea. The methods development in this project include exploration of different ways in which data from electronic health records along with data from literature reviews can be used to inform evaluation of diagnostic health technologies, biomarkers and surrogate endpoints for healthcare policy and decision-making.

About you

The successful candidate for Research Associate post will be educated to PhD level (or relevant MSc plus research experience) in Biostatistics/Medical Statistics, Applied Statistics/Statistics, Epidemiology, Health Technology Assessment, Health Economics or closely related area. For Research Assistant post we look for candidates educated to MSc level in the above disciplines.

You will have high-level expertise in one or more of biostatistics/medical statistics/applied statistics/epidemiology/Health Technology Assessment/ Health Economics, analysis of RCT and observational patient level data, simulation-based methods (including Markov Chain Monte Carlo), and meta-analysis/evidence synthesis methods (including meta-analysis of diagnostic test accuracy studies and/or network meta-analysis). You will also have outstanding communication skills, and for the Research Associate post a proven ability to contribute to the development of presentations and peer reviewed publications.
