We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated Research Assistant to join Professor Adrian Hill’s pre-erythrocytic malaria (PEM) research group at the Jenner Institute, Nuffield Department of Medicines. 

You will support the general program of immunology within the PEM group and occasionally other vaccine trials as necessary. You will participate in the research programme led by Professor Adrian Hill to develop vaccines for PE malaria and adapt experimental protocols. You will perform immunological assays to measure responses induced by such vaccines in Phase I, II and III vaccine trials in Oxford.  This job includes general lab duties (maintaining supplies, consumables and equipment); processing samples, preparing reagents; cataloguing frozen samples; maintaining inventories; and some data analysis. You will gather, analyse data and present them to the Senior Immunologist and wider group. You will perform research work to a high standard and undertake clinical trials immunology and administration to GCP standard. 

It is essential that you hold a degree in a relevant biological subject (or equivalent), with a keen interest in malaria and immunology of infectious diseases. You will have the ability to manage large datasets with either experience in, or a keen interest in learning, a statistical software package (such as Stata or R) or coding. You will also have excellent organisation and interpersonal skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. You will be able to undertake laboratory work to GCP and HTA. Prior experience working in clinical trials would be highly desirable.
