This is an exciting time to join a growing and developing midwifery team at the Three Counties School of Nursing and Midwifery. The University of Worcester is proud of being accredited with the UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative. The School has been shortlisted for a number of prestigious awards over the last three years and with the opening of the Three Counties Medical School, there are plenty of opportunities for interprofessional education.

This is a fantastic opportunity for either an early career Midwife or experienced midwifery academic.

The post holder will be committed to promoting evidence based best practice that underpins critical thinking, leadership, decision-making and problem-solving skills required to enable students to fulfil this role.

By utilising expert knowledge and skills, the post holder will have the opportunity to teach across the BSc (Hons) Midwifery; MSc Shortened Midwifery programme and other courses within the School; lead agreed modules; assess students and supervise students’ Independent study. The post holder will engage in curriculum development to develop flexible practitioners who can transfer and synthesise skills and knowledge to meet the demands of differing practice environments, and who recognise the accountability and responsibilities of the midwife’s role.

The educational aims of the department are to ensure that midwives, at the point of registration, are equipped to provide skilled, knowledgeable, respectful and compassionate care. Women and families are at the heart of our teaching and this is reflected in our knowledgeable, kind and compassionate students. The Maternity Service User Group supported by the Lead Midwife of Education (LME) play a key part in the student learning journey from selection days to assessment and evaluation promoting student empathy.

Our Midwifery academics have a growing scholarly, research and publication profile and are committed to building on achievements in learning, teaching and research. The successful candidate will join a team of enthusiastic, committed, and dynamic Midwife teachers and will work collaboratively with colleagues across the Department, School and the wider University. New appointees are supported by a knowledgeable team, to develop their new role with access to a team buddy, mentor and staff development courses.

  • From 1 August 2023, the salary range for the Lecturer role will increase to £37,100 – £41,732 with the opportunity to progress to £45,585 and the salary range for the Senior Lecturer role will increase to £42,978 – £54,395 with the opportunity to progress to £59,422.
