The University of York is seeking a Research Fellow to be involved in the provision of research advice and collaboration to health and social care researchers and practitioners.
The post will be embedded in the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Research Support Service (RSS) Hub, hosted by the University of York, a new research initiative to support the NIHR in meeting its strategic priorities. The NIHR RSS will provide seamless access to support, advice, research design and collaboration from pre-application to post-application for researchers working across the remit of NIHR in England.
One of eight national NIHR RSS Hubs, the Hub hosted by the University of York is a collaboration between the Universities of Leeds, Sheffield and York.

Role
We are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow to play a key role in the provision of research advice and collaboration to researchers and practitioners seeking support from the NIHR RSS Hub hosted by the University of York. You will be a key point of contact for the Hub research team, undertaking a range of activities including: supporting the administration team in the triaging of support requests, liaising effectively with our partners in Sheffield and Leeds, providing comprehensive high quality advice on research applications in a timely and professional manner, co-ordinating the input of Hub advisers with other areas of expertise, taking a lead role in the design and delivery of workshops and presentations, engaging in regional and national activities and contributing to other activities such as annual reports. You will also be encouraged and supported to continue to develop your own research portfolio. Please note this role is fixed term until September 2028.
Skills, Experience & Qualification needed

- A PhD in an area relevant to health and care research or equivalent experience
- Knowledge in own subject area to engage in high quality research
- Comprehensive knowledge of NIHR and other relevant research funding streams and funder expectations
- Ability to identify sources of funding and contribute to the process of securing funds, with collaborators if required
- Proven ability to attract and obtain external research funding
- Experience involving patients, the public and/or community organisations in research
- Highly developed communication skills to engage effectively with a wide ranging audience, both orally and in writing, using a range of media
- Ability to lead and/or take responsibility for a small research project or identified parts of a large project
- Ability to persuade and influence project stakeholders
