The School of Life Sciences offers high quality teaching across a range of undergraduate and taught postgraduate programmes, and has delivered a successful portfolio of BSc and Degree Apprenticeship courses in Environmental Health for some time. We are now about to re-launch our Degree Apprenticeship programme and are therefore seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Environmental Health. This permanent post will be on a full-time (1.0 FTE) basis.

You will have previous teaching or training experience that will enable you to contribute to teaching & learning, assessment, quality enhancement, and pedagogic research within the Department. We welcome applications from Environmental Health Practitioners or those from an active research background that fits with the School’s research strategy.

You will have a minimum of a first degree in a related discipline or equivalent and a Master’s degree or a PhD, or be able to demonstrate significant professional practice experience. We are keen to recruit someone with experience in any area of environmental health, but ideally you would be able to provide expertise in health and safety, housing, and law. You will be able to effectively deliver the key aspects of these disciplines through lectures, seminars, and practical classes, and be committed to providing an excellent learner experience. You will have achieved a recognised teaching qualification (e.g. FHEA or PGCertHE) or be willing to undertake such a qualification.

Preferably, you will be registered with the CIEH or be a member of another relevant professional body. Good communication and organisational skills are essential attributes and knowledge of apprenticeship delivery will be desirable.

We are committed to promoting and developing a culture of excellence, diversity and mutual respect that supports all our staff, students and apprentices and welcome applications from all sections of society.

For an informal discussion about the post please contact the Head of School, Professor Gary Hix (Email: g.hix@wlv.ac.uk, Tel: 01902 322365), or the Environmental Health Apprenticeship Lead, Dr Danen Appasamy (Email: D.Appasamy2@wlv.ac.uk Tel: 01902 323506).
