This post is full-time and is offered on an open-ended basis.

The James Watt School of Engineering (JWSE) at the University of Glasgow is an energetic and growing international centre of excellence for engineering research and teaching. The School leads research in Autonomous Systems & Connectivity (including Aerospace); Biomedical Engineering; Electronics and Nanoscale Engineering; Infrastructure and Environment; and Systems, Power and Energy. We have in the region of 170 academics and 190 researchers supported by approximately 70 technicians and 40 professional services staff. Currently, we have ~500 research students working towards doctorates.

We are seeking to fill positions for ambitious academics to join the Division of Biomedical Engineering in the broad areas of neurotechnology, rehabilitation engineering, and wearable sensors. Examples include neuroprostheses (e.g. functional electrical stimulation), brain-computer interface, implantable devices, movement analysis and control, (soft)robotics, and neural tissue engineering.

The post holder will join a vibrant environment with world-leading groups in Rehabilitation Engineering, Biomaterials, Tissue Engineering and Advanced Diagnostics. The Division of Biomedical Engineering hosts fundamental research that is developed with the ambition to lead to industrial and academic impact. We also lead the Scottish Centre for Innovation in Spinal Cord Injuries placed within the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. We expect the successful academic to complement and synergise with existing activities and to develop a network of collaborations locally (across the James Watt School of Engineering and the University) as well as to liaise with industry and clinicians to translate their research to the highest impact.
