Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences (SIPBS) is a leader in research, teaching, and knowledge exchange activities in the broad theme of Pharmacy and biomedical sciences. In REF 2021, Strathclyde’s Allied Health submission was rated 100% ‘world-leading’ for its research environment, ranked joint 11th (of 91) in the UK for both its overall Research Quality and Research Power and is the highest-performing Scottish institution (THE). Our MPharm and Biomedical Sciences undergraduate degrees are highly rated in the UK, with Pharmacy & Pharmacology ranked 4th in UK (Complete University Guide 2023) and Top 10 in UK for Biomedical Sciences (Complete University Guide 2023).

We are looking to recruit a suitably qualified candidate for the position of Teaching Assistant to work with Professor Alex Mullen and Dr Marie Boyd to support their teaching activities. We wish to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic teaching assistant with a background in Pharmacy and/or pharmaceutics and/or biomedical sciences +/- pharmaceutics. The successful candidate will be part of our teaching team and will contribute to the delivery of our teaching portfolio, preparing and delivering lectures, setting, and undertaking assessments, supervising project students and supporting our general teaching and admin activities.

The appointed candidate will contribute to the delivery of the SIPBS undergraduate and postgraduate Biomedical Science and Pharmacy degree programmes and MSc programmes. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the wider academic, scholarly, and professional requirements of the Institute and will be supported in terms of career development for example by undertaking work towards the Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) as part of their role.

In attracting the best possible candidates for these roles, we expect individuals to be fully committed to providing an outstanding student experience, and to embrace the University’s progressive values: people-oriented, collaborative, bold, ambitious, and innovative.

To be considered for this position, you will have an Honours degree in a relevant discipline (or equivalent).

It is anticipated that formal interviews for this post will be held in August 2023.

Informal enquiries about the post can be directed to Professor Mullen (a.mullen@strath.ac.uk) or Dr Marie Boyd (marie.boyd@strath.ac.uk).
