The Cancer Research UK Clinical Trials Unit (CRCTU) at the University of Birmingham is one of the largest cancer specialist clinical trials units in the UK. The unit runs both early phase and large randomised phase III/IV trials. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Trials Monitor to join our Quality Management Team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring phase I-IV Investigational Medicinal Product (IMP) and non-IMP clinical trials in both the adult and paediatric setting. The Monitor will play a key role in ensuring trials are conducted to the applicable regulations and Good Clinical Practice and according to the trial protocol and the CRCTU’s Quality Management System. The Monitor will work closely with a number of Trial Coordinators, and will be involved at the time of trial design to advise on trial risks and the extent of monitoring required for that trial.
Applicants must possess a relevant degree or equivalent experience. Candidates must also demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving and organisational skills. The successful applicant will be a team-player who has the confidence to use their own initiative and judgement. A proven critical and intelligent attention to detail is essential to this role.
The University supports hybrid working where it is feasible, appropriate, following an assessment of the suitability of the role in question, and subject to the individual expressing a desire to work in a hybrid manner. There is an expectation that no-one should spend 100% of their time working away from their work location, unless government legislation dictates it.
