Professorial Post

We are seeking an outstanding candidate for a Discovery Science Chair position within the Ageing and Frailty theme of the Institute of Inflammation and Ageing in the University of Birmingham. The candidate will provide significant strategic leadership in the field of ageing science and diseases and inflammatory processes associated with advancing age, such as frailty, delirium and multimorbidity, which will positively enhance the profile of the institution. The post holder will be expected to have an excellent international reputation, based on an extensive track record of innovative research in ageing which has a major quantifiable influence in the subject area. Expertise may include discovery/translational laboratory science, such as immune and systemic metabolism, or/and bioinformatics and data science, making use of the significant health data offer within the West Midlands region. The post holder will also make a significant contribution to teaching and learning, contribute at a high level to leadership and management activity and act as a role model in respect of citizenship.
