We have an exciting opportunity for a senior research manager to join our team. You will be responsible for the management and coordination of science and research services, resources and activities delivered by the RPS. Reporting to the Deputy Chief Scientist, the post holder will contribute to the delivery of the directorate’s business plan, such as increasing the profile of Science and Research in pharmacy, engaging with members and stakeholders, and supporting and contributing to the development and delivery of high-quality science and research services and resources. 

Requirements 

  • Educated to post-graduate level, or experience commensurate with, preferably in the field of Pharmacy, Social Sciences or Health.
  • Demonstrable understanding of the UK healthcare system, science and research infrastructure, relevant organisations and networks, research governance frameworks, regulation, and ethical aspects.
  • Proven experience of research (and research methodologies) in health or social care.
  • Proven experience of leading research or evaluation programmes and projects, as well as conducting research using a range of quantitative and qualitative methods.
  • Demonstrable ability to collect, analyse and report/present data in creative and accessible ways, document information and maintain appropriate records.
  • Proven experience in developing research proposals and proven track record of securing funding.
  • Proactive, self-starter capable of working alone and able to work according to strategic direction.
  • Proven experience of project management, developing and delivering services and resources effectively, including financial budgets.
  • Excellent proven written and oral communication skills for a range of audiences to ensure impact.
  • Demonstrable experience of team working, and people management, including training and line management of research sub-teams and supervision of volunteer workers.
  • Excellent customer service skills, including a high level of interpersonal skills. 

How we are currently working 

We continue to support our employees to work flexibly and from home. There is an expectation for this role to attend the London office on occasions where there is a need to do so; otherwise, the majority of the role can be done at home or at one of our offices.
