The Department of Biological and Medical Sciences is seeking to appoint a new colleague who will contribute to the teaching portfolio in Biological & Biomedical Sciences at Oxford Brookes University. This post is intended to make a significant contribution to teaching at undergraduate level. This post is part time (0.5 fte) and fixed term for 24 months.

The successful applicant should have:

  • BSc in Biomedical Science, or a closely related area
  • PhD or equivalent laboratory experience in a relevant discipline

Candidates must be able to demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching biosciences with a clear depth of knowledge in one or more of the relevant bioscience disciplines with a focus on biochemistry and molecular biology preferable. An understanding of teaching and assessment approaches for higher education is required. Flexible working around the teaching delivery is possible including working mainly during the teaching periods.

All candidates must be able to demonstrate:

  • the necessary teamwork skills to foster strong working relationships with colleagues
  • the ability to work independently and flexibly, and to take responsibility for academic teaching, assessment and administration
  • the attitude and ability to engage in continuous professional development
  • the ability to engage and enhance learning and development within a diverse student cohort.
