Glasgow Caledonian University – the University for the Common Good – is a vibrant, values-led, multi-cultural, civic University with a global outlook and strong commitment to delivering social innovation and sustainable development in its education and research.

Our organisational strategy is aligned with the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals and our globally recognised researchers advise governments, industry and international bodies. We’re ranked fourth in the world and first in the UK for promoting gender equality, in the top 70 universities globally for social impact, and first in Scotland for health and wellbeing, and reduced inequalities, for which we are also ranked 21st in the world (THE Impact Rankings, 2022). In 2020-21, we contributed £1.7 billion and more than 14,000 jobs across the globe (BIGGAR Economics, 2022).

GCU is committed to widening participation, and delivering positive outcomes for our students. We are Scotland’s leading provider of Graduate Apprenticeships. With campuses in Glasgow, London and New York, we have transnational partnerships around the world, supporting more than 22,000 students from 130 countries. Guided by our values – integrity, responsibility, creativity and confidence – we transform the lives of the people and communities we serve.

The Department of Nursing and Community Health offers a range of undergraduate, postgraduate and CPD programmes and modules in Nursing and Public Health. Our research has both a strong applied health focus, as well as educational evaluation, and our commitment to student focused, innovative and flexible learning strategies is supported by our state-of-the art facilities.

We are recruiting a Lecturer in Nursing who is a Registered Nurse with the NMC, with experience of teaching in either Higher Education or Clinical Practice and the skills and knowledge to effectively engage with our academic programmes. The successful applicants will work as part of a close-knit team and be expected to develop and deliver an engaging and exciting learning experience to students both on- and off-campus. They will teach and manage modules at undergraduate and postgraduate level, ensuring both academic rigour and a curriculum that is both challenging and informed by up-to-date scholarly research.

You should be educated to Master’s degree level (or be within a year of completion), preferably with a teaching qualification, and you should have experience of involvement with nurse education from either an academic or clinical perspective. The successful applicant will be able to enhance the student experience of teaching and learning in Higher Education, work independently and as a member of a team for the enhancement of the student experience. Experience in either children’s nursing and/or health visiting is preferred.
