Lecturer in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy (Teaching and Scholarship)

We are recruiting for an exceptional individual to join us as Teaching and Scholarship Lecturer in the University Department of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery (UDOTS) within the Medical School. The post holder will contribute to the running and development of undergraduate and taught master’s programmes delivered by the department. (www.dundee.ac.uk/orthopaedics).

The role also encompasses the delivery of a clinical gait assessment service for the NHS Tayside conducting comprehensive assessments of patients with gait disorders, including analysing their walking patterns, identifying biomechanical abnormalities, and evaluating contributing factors such as strength, range of motion, balance, and coordination. The successful candidate will utilise specialized equipment and technology, such as gait analysis systems, pressure plates, and video analysis software and previous experience with these is desirable but if required training will be provided.

You will be based at Ninewells Hospital and Medical School, one of Europe’s largest teaching hospitals where the School of Medicine provides outstanding opportunities in medical education and training supported by world class research facilities.

Your priorities will include:

• contributing to the development of courses leading to Certificate, Diploma and Master’s degrees.
• involvement in supporting the development and delivery of the UDOTS postgraduate curricula and contribute to the research portfolio of UDOTS
• supervising and mentoring research students including Intercalated and Master’s level research supervision where appropriate
• provision of clinical gait assessment and reporting

Your qualifications and experience will include:

• Masters level or above qualification in Physiotherapy or closely related area
• HCPC physiotherapist registration
• Experience of assessing adults and children for physiotherapy needs.
• Some experience in Gait Analysis or willingness to learn and undertake Gait analysis for adults and children
• Experience of teaching at university (or equivalent) level, Evidence of learning and teaching competence
