Postdoctoral Research Scientist – 2 posts at University of Oxford

Coronaviruses causes a massive healthcare burden. We have considerable experience in the investigation of the immune responses to the virus and publish well. You will be involved in a broadly-based research program covering a number of aspects of viral immunology, particularly humoral immune-responses, and vaccine development.

Your primary responsibilities will include mangaging your own academic research and administrative activities. This involves small scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines. You will be responsible for adapting existing and develop new scientific techniques, and experimental protocols and testing hypotheses and analyse scientific data from a variety of sources, reviewing and refining working hypotheses as appropriate. You will contribute ideas for new research projects and colloborate in the preparation of scientific reports and journal articles and occasionally present papers and posters. You will act as a source of information and advice to other members of the group on scientific protocols and experimental techniques as well as conduct and plan own scientific work with appropriate supervision.

You will hold a relevant PhD/Dphil (or close to completion) in subjects related to immunology. You will have knowledge of regulations in biomedical research and data handling as well as knowledge of Virology, Immunology, and Molecular Biology. Experience in research methods and statistical procedures is required for this role. Practical experience within a research environment and/or publication in relevant and refereed journals and experience in a broad range of techniques including gene and protein manipulation, protein prediction and design, virological techniques are essential.
