Faculty of Medical Sciences 

Qualifications and Experience 

The successful candidate must possess a PhD or equivalent from a recognized university in Nursing, Education or a closely related field.   

Candidates should also possess:

  • Ideally, at least fifteen (15) years post RN experience
  • Ideally, at least five (5) years teaching experience at the tertiary level
  • A good record of research and publications in reputable, peer-reviewed journals
  • Experience in supervising undergraduate research
  • Proficiency in testing and evaluation at the tertiary level
  • Competence in curriculum development 

Candidates with the following would have an advantage:

  • MSN, MSc or MEd in Nursing Education or a closely related field
  • Experience teaching in at least one (1) of the following:
  • General Nursing
  • Oncology
  • Midwifery or other allied health fields
  • Academic Administration or Managerial experience
  • Experience in supervising postgraduate research
  • Experience as an examiner of clinical or theoretical components of Nursing
  • Experience in grant writing
  • Competence in the following:
  • Networking and Collaboration
  • Leadership and Management
  • Using online pedagogical platforms 

The following would be considered assets:

  • Qualification in Education or Administration
  • Experience in oral or written research presentations at international conferences
  • Evidence of prior success in supervising research 

Special Responsibilities 

  • Developing teaching material
  • Engaging in academic advisement
  • Supervising students in the teaching/learning environment
  • Leading curriculum development
  • Facilitating innovative teaching/learning and assessment experiences for students
  • Supervising research projects 

Personal Attributes
