We are seeking a Health Inequalities Research and Partnership Manager (0.5 FTE) to join the Tower Hamlets Health Determinants Research Collaborative (HDRC), a five-year programme funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR). The HDRC is a collaboration between Tower Hamlets Council, the voluntary sector, and three universities: University of East London, Queen Mary University of London, and London Metropolitan University. The Manager will work closely with colleagues from the other universities and the broader HRDC partnership.

You will work closely with equivalent roles at Queen Mary University of London and London Metropolitan University. 

About the Project

Tower Hamlets, with the fastest growing and youngest population in the country, is a vibrant, dynamic, and diverse borough facing challenges such as poverty, overcrowding, and high rates of diabetes and heart disease. The Tower Hamlets HDRC aims to expand collaborative research capacity to understand and address health inequalities. It will build research and development infrastructure in the council and partner organisations to transform how research is carried out and used. Collaboration is at the heart of how we work with organisations across the area and our communities.

The role will be based in the Office for Postgraduates, Research and Engagement (OPRE), the service which providers holistic support for the development and implementation of the University of East London’s research, knowledge exchange and engagement strategies and activities including research bid development, liaison with funders and post award delivery, initiatives to foster collaboration and the facilitate public and community engagement.  

About You

We are seeking colleagues with the passion to make a difference and to make a strong contribution to the development of the partnership. You will bring experience of engaging with diverse communities, with significant knowledge, and experience of, a variety of engagement methods, their appropriate delivery and feedback to communities.  You will be able to work independently across a dispersed team and proactively identify funding opportunities and potential research collaborations, supporting development of applications linked to the HDRC priorities and advising on best practice related to community engagement.
