2 x Daphne Jackson Fellowship Opportunities at Queen Mary University of London at Daphne Jackson Trust

Applications are invited for 2 x three-year part-time (0.5FTE) Daphne Jackson Fellowships to be hosted and sponsored by The Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London. The two Fellowships are intended for individuals returning to research within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry’s strategic research areas: 

• The Barts Cancer Institute, led by Professor Nick Lemoine, focuses on cutting edge molecular and translational cancer research.
• The Blizard Institute, led by Professor Mary Collins, focuses on cell biology, genomics, immunology, neuroscience, and trauma sciences.
• The William Harvey Research Institute (WHRI), led by Professor Panos Deloukas, undertakes cardiovascular, inflammation and endocrine research leading to therapeutic innovation.
• The Wolfson Institute of Population Health Sciences, led by Professor Fiona Walters, focuses on Preventive Medicine, Epidemiology, Psychiatry, Clinical Trials Methodology and Statistics, Global Public Health, Primary Care, Mental Health, and Women’s Health.
• The Institute of Dentistry, led by Professor Paul Coulthard, focuses on clinical, epidemiological and public health research in dentistry with a solid basic science research base.
• The Institute of Health Sciences Education, led by Professor Arunthathi Mahendran, focuses primarily on medical education and pedagogical research within the fields of health and medical education.

Daphne Jackson Fellowships 

The Daphne Jackson Trust is dedicated to returning researchers to their careers following a break of two years or more taken for a family, caring or health reason. 

Daphne Jackson Fellowships are unique: they offer professionals wishing to return to a research career after a break of two or more years, the opportunity to balance an individually tailored retraining programme with a challenging research project in a suitably supportive environment. 

The Fellowship consists of a challenging research project and at least 100 hours retraining per year. The unparalleled support offered by the Trust’s Fellowship Advisors and administrative staff, coupled with mentoring and retraining provided during the Fellowship, give returners the confidence and skills they need to successfully return to research.
