Role Summary

We are seeking to appoint a full-time Assistant Professor in Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy who will contribute to a range of education activities and work within the school’s healthcare placement team.  The role holder will be expected to contribute to academic citizenship, likely to be demonstrated through generous, mutually respectful, and supportive working relationships with all staff and students.

About you

You will have a background in cardiorespiratory physiotherapy practice with proven clinical skills demonstrated across one or more of healthcare, community and sport and exercise settings.

You will be an inspiring educator, able to clearly communicate to students of all levels and the public allowing you to deliver excellent teaching that engages students and is informed by your own scholarship. You will contribute to programme delivery, leadership, and enhancement in physiotherapy, ensuring an excellent educational experience for your students. 

You will have a passion for educating future physiotherapists through advancing teaching and learning practice and playing an important role in support of healthcare placement education, and student academic and pastoral support. In providing educational support to both students and Practice Educators you will ensure the ongoing provision of high quality learning experiences within the programmes.  

As part of the healthcare placement education team, you will deliver and support innovation in the provision of healthcare placement education. This will involve developing high quality practice education opportunities across the 4 pillars of physiotherapy practice within a range of facilities including NHS Trusts, Social Care, Private Practices, Schools and in the University itself through Simulation, Research and Education experiences.

Person Specification

  • Normally, a higher Degree relevant to the physiotherapy discipline (usually PhD or near completion, or a masters degree and a proven track record of success and broad experience in education roles).
  • Qualified physiotherapist holding current HCPC registration.
  • Teaching experience and scholarship within cardiorespiratory physiotherapy.
  • A commitment to quality enhancement in physiotherapy practice.
