Salary: Full time starting salary is normally in the range £45,585 to £54,395 with potential progression once in post to £61,198

Hours: Part Time (either one post at 18.75 working hours per week or two posts at 9.38 working hours per week)

Contract Type: Fixed Term contract up to April 2024

Role Summary

The postholder(s) will enhance research and education in obstetrics and gynaecology within the Institute and its maternal health theme. Their research should be highly synergistic with the area’s WHO Collaborating Centre for Global Women’s Health and NIHR BRC Research Theme “Women’s Metabolic Health”. 

They will contribute to teaching, research, and administration and be expected to contribute to academic citizenship, likely to be demonstrated through generous, mutually respectful and supportive working relationships with all staff and students. The postholder(s) will be expected to help develop translational medicine and basic science projects through close collaboration with academic staff both internally and externally. 

Management and administration are likely to include Institute leadership and management activity with University wide involvement – for example through sustained high value research, knowledge transfer, enterprise, business engagement, and public engagement or similar activities. 

Person Specification

  • Normally, a higher degree relevant to the research/teaching area (usually PhD or one near to completion) or equivalent qualifications
  • Extensive research/teaching experience and scholarship within subject specialism
  • Proven ability to devise, advise on and manage learning/research
  • Skills in managing, motivating and mentoring others successfully at all levels
  • Ability to design, deliver, assess and revise teaching programmes
  • Extensive experience of applying and/or developing and devising successful models, techniques and methods
  • Ability to contribute to School/Departmental management processes
