The School of Medical Sciences (SMS) delivers a successful and innovative undergraduate medical programme to over 3400 students. The programme uses a hybrid teaching and learning approach based on adult learning principles emphasizing experiential learning, subject integration, and reflective practice. In the earlier years of the programme, delivery emphasizes small group learning, reinforced with early clinical experience; later years emphasize learning through clinical placements in the NHS. The successful applicant will be accountable to the Director of Undergraduate Medical Studies, MBChB Programme and will have responsibility for Teaching and Learning for Years 0-5 MBChB Programme. This involves ensuring effective delivery of the programme to all our students in line with the programme specification and the requirements of the GMC. They will be responsible for specifying, developing, and implementing the curriculum working in partnership with the Academic Lead for Programme Developments. They will be supported by the Programme Leadership team, the academic year leads and curriculum component leads. The APD for Teaching & Learning will be a medically qualified practitioner with current GMC registration and current and ongoing clinical practice within one of SMS’s clinical education partners (including General Practice) at consultant or GP level or equivalent of at least 0.2 FTE.

Interviews for this position will be held 10th July 2023 in the morning.
