A Queensland man has made a new claim after he was released from an Indonesian jail for going on an alleged drunk and naked rampage.

Bodhi Mani Risby-Jones, 23, was locked up in an Indonesian prison on April 27 after he was accused by police of drunken attacks on multiple people, including on one man who suffered serious leg injuries.

The 23-year-old was accused of running naked and drunk through a conservative Indonesian beach village, allegedly screaming and bashing into a local coffee shop before trying to take a motorbike and throwing it at the fisherman, causing leg injuries.

Footage of the wild incident shows locals in the village performing a citizen’s arrest and tying him up.

He was released on May 26 following a compensation deal with the fisherman’s family which saw the case avoid court and Risby-Jones avoid potentially five years in prison, which was the maximum penalty.

To wrap up his eventful 2023, Mr Risby-Jones took to social media on Sunday vowing to finally speak his truth about the overseas incident.

“What a trip,” he begins the Facebook post.

“For those that don’t know the truth to what happened to me while I was on the surfing trip – in short – I was spiked in Simeulue Island Aceh North Sumatra … an unfortunate chain of events led to me losing myself to a mob of approximately 40 locals and injuring one of them.”

Mr Risby-Jones said he woke up the following morning in prison where he remained for six weeks.

“I lost close to 10kg in two weeks due to lack of hygiene, stress … the whole operation to get me home cost close to $100k.”

“I was facing up to 5-7 years in a third world prison. I refused to release the true story to the media when I returned as I wanted to be able to move on to the next story.”

He said he wasn’t looking for pity but was “comfortably releasing the truth” and moving on into 2024.

Following his release, a photograph emerged of the 23-year-old grinning with his thumbs up while posing with a group of Indonesian police.

Two of the officers have their hands spread in a “shakkas” while another cheekily shields her face from the camera.

He also held a news conference where he apologised for his actions.

“I’m very, very relieved and happy,” the 23-year-old said at the time.

“I made a fool of myself and it was shown publicly worldwide.

“I’d like to thank the prosecutors for helping me, I’d like to thank the police and everyone who helped us finalise and finish the deal so I could go home.”

The incident took place in the highly conservative Aceh province on the northwest tip of Sumatra Island.

It is the only province in Indonesia governed by sharia law and prohibits the drinking of alcohol.

The fisherman Edi Ron, who was allegedly knocked off his motorcycle by Mr Risby-Jones, required at least 50 stitches in his foot, according to Indonesian police chief Jatmiko.

The Noosa local’s alleged actions reportedly caused an angry mob to threaten to burn down his accommodation.

Mr Risby-Jones had reportedly been drinking a vodka before he stripped in his room at the Moon Beach Resort sometime after midnight.

Local police had alleged he left his room still naked and attacked a security officer, who attempted to stop him before he allegedly went on to cause havoc in the streets.

Mr Risby-Jones returned home on June 12.
