Contract type – Open ended – Part-time: 21 hours per week (0.6 FTE)
We are looking for a relatively recently qualified Clinical Psychologist with a commitment to developing an academic career path in Clinical Psychology. You will contribute to core teaching, skills training, and dissertation supervision in Clinical & Health Psychology. You will be supported to develop a programme of research which aligns closely with the department’s research themes.
The opportunity:
This post is designed to contribute to core teaching activity in Clinical Psychology. It offers the opportunity to a recently qualified clinical psychologist to develop a career path in academic clinical psychology at the University of Edinburgh. The post holder will work as part of a vibrant and innovating clinical psychology group and contribute to teaching and research activity in the subject area. You will be aligned to the MSc Applied Psychology Children and Young People (Healthcare), therefore candidates who are oriented towards CAMHS and towards application of CBT with children and adolescents are particularly encouraged to apply. The Programme trains people as Clinical Associates in Applied Psychology, to work in the NHS with children and young people.
Involvement and development of research will be expected in collaboration with members of staff and related to the applicant’s own area of interest. The department has several Research Themes and groups. Candidates who can align to one of these will be more likely to succeed in developing their research programme. Contribution to wider citizenship tasks will also be expected.
Your skills and attributes for success:
- BPS recognised Professional Doctorate in Clinical Psychology with confirmed eligibility to register with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Practitioner Clinical Psychologist
- Experience of teaching and training
- Commitment to an academic career path
- Experience of publishing research
- Contribution to funding applications
