The role
The lead for effective consulting in Year 3 of the Bristol Medical Curriculum, working as part of the Effective Consulting Team.
What will you be doing?
You will be responsible of running the EC sessions in the central teaching weeks for Year 3 (x2 per annum). This involves tutor recruitment and training, creating materials and supporting delivery. The block also includes lectures.
You will adapt existing and design new EC content for the fortnightly Y3 GP (GP3) EC sessions, liaising with GP Teacher colleagues and evaluating your materials. These sessions run for approximately one hour.
You will offer EC input to the other main (hospital-based) units in Year 3 – helping them to develop and consolidate EC content.
You will be involved in designing and running OSCE stations. There are opportunities for candidates who are interested in research.
You should apply if
- You are a clinician with an active GMC registration and clinical experience
- You have a teaching qualifications at certificate level or higher (or show commitment to obtaining such)
- You have experience of the Bristol Effective Consulting curriculum and COGConnect
- You are able to work flexibly during the introductory weeks (our input typically Tuesdays and Thursdays)
- You will be confident that effective consulting is essential to good medicine and that effective consulting can be learned
- You enjoy working as part of a team and have skills in the creation of online educational materials
