Company description:
We are a world class research-intensive university. We deliver teaching and learning of the highest quality. We play a leading role in economic, social and cultural development of the North East of England. Attracting and retaining high-calibre people is fundamental to our continued success.
Job description:
The Role
This is a fixed term appointment with potential for extension subject to funding. You will work on an MRC-funded collaborative project to study the role of the pancreas in long-term health after severe acute malnutrition in children and adults living in low and middle income countries, ‘SAMPA’.
You will undertake detailed mathematical analysis of data collected from standard and frequently sampled oral and intravenous glucose tolerance tests undertaken in the participating centres. Pancreatic beta-cell function and insulin resistance will be modelled in parallel with analysis of quantitative pancreatic imaging and exocrine function testing.
As clinical studies for this programme are virtually complete, it is critical that the appointee is a trained diabetologist already experienced in undertaking these metabolic tests in participants with pancreatogenic diabetes and in the necessary detailed analysis methods in addition to their interpretation and preparation for publication.
This is a Full Time role fixed term until 03.1.2024
