We are a world class research-intensive university. We deliver teaching and learning of the highest quality. We play a leading role in economic, social and cultural development of the North East of England. Attracting and retaining high-calibre people is fundamental to our continued success.

The Role
This post will provide an early career springboard for an aspiring clinical academic to undertake the first year of a PhD fellowship and provide training and mentorship that will support the candidate through successfully obtaining external funding for the final 2 years. The project applies recent discoveries in the biology of acute myeloid leukaemia to understanding the regulation of cell growth by Flt3 ligand and exploitation of Flt3 ligand measurement for clinical use. The candidate will be trained in specimen handling, cellular and molecular biology techniques, and linked to clinical trials networks in acute myeloid leukaemia.

As part of our commitment to career development for research colleagues, the University has developed 3 levels of research role profiles. These profiles set out firstly the generic competences and responsibilities expected of role holders at each level and secondly the general qualifications and experiences needed for entry at a particular level.
