About the Role
Applications are sought for a Clinical Research Fellow to undertake an exciting prostate cancer early detection project across North East London. The post would ideally suit for trainees between Core and Specialist training, but more experienced candidates will be considered. There will be opportunities for surgical skills development (e.g. core urology, robotic surgery), and participation in the middle grade on call rota with partner Trusts.
About You
The postholder must have a medical degree from a recognised institution, GMC registration and have completed a minimum of 2 years of core surgical training or equivalent with at least 6 months experience in urology at core trainee or specialty trainee level. Essential requirements include MRCS/FRCS or equivalent. Experience in project management, conducting outpatient clinics, data collection and statistical analysis would be advantageous. A demonstrated ability to communicate well and work within a team is also essential.
About the School/Department/Institute/Project
Barts Cancer Institute (BCI) is part of the Cancer Research UK City of London Centre, and aims to transform the lives of those with and at risk of cancer through innovative research. The project will be implemented across all secondary care providers within the North East London Integrated Care System, with the Mile End Early Diagnosis Centre being the key base clinical site. The role will require actively engaging with key primary and secondary care stakeholders, community and faith groups, charities, Cancer Alliance members, and research teams.

The post is hosted at the Charterhouse Campus in London. It is full time (35 hours per week), permanent fixed term appointment for 12 months with a possibility of extension subject to confirmation of funding. The starting salary will be Grade QM1, in the range of £40,257-£51,017 per annum (pro-rata), inclusive of London Allowance. A pay banding supplement would be payable for participation in the on-call rota at middle grade level at The Royal London Hospital (Barts Health NHS Trust). The rota currently is 1 in 8, but is under review and may be subject to change.
