Job Summary

The successful fellow will support a wide portfolio of clinical research in acute infection under supervision of Dr Luke Moore (Clinical Senior Lecturer, Department of Infectious Disease). The team has responsibility for delivering a range of clinical studies including clinical trials (for COVID-19, antimicrobials, and sepsis), observational studies, and evaluation of novel diagnostics.

Duties and responsibilities

The post holder will hold an honorary clinical contract with the appropriate NHS Trust/s and will be expected to take on clinical research responsibilities appropriate to their level of experience

  • Management and co-ordination of research studies focussed on acute infectious diseases
  • Recruitment of patients into research studies and collection of relevant clinical data
  • Support development of new clinical studies on acute infection
  • Provide cross-cover of medical colleagues working within the CTU on other studies
  • Act as medical support to nursing staff, potentially supporting other research within the CTU
  • Maintain good communications with AHP staff on all aspects of patient care
  • Organise and take part in teaching sessions for the Clinical Infection Department and
  • Develop links with the clinical services a to enhance recruitment into clinical trials
  • Provide screening documentation and accurate completion of CRFs in accordance with study protocols and GCP

The College is currently trialling a Work Location Framework until early 2023.  Hybrid working may be considered for this role and the role holder may be expected to work 60% or more of their time onsite, with 40% the minimum time spent onsite.  The opportunity for hybrid working will be discussed at interview.
