Applications are invited for a Clinical Research Fellowship in Health Data Research the University of Edinburgh’s Centre for Cardiovascular Science (CVS) with a view to obtaining a PhD. 

Professor Mills and Dr. Anand’s research interests are in health data research, care pathways and data-enabled clinical trials. For further details see the CVS website.

The Opportunity:

Under Professor Mills and Dr. Anand’s supervision, the appointee will be required to demonstrate an ability to work independently and deliver a wide range of complex tasks. They will need to demonstrate enthusiasm, commitment and self-motivation to deliver the health data research projects. During this post, the appointee will obtain a higher postgraduate (PhD or MD) degree.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Registration with the General Medical Council
  • Have MRCP, MRCS or equivalent
  • Have clinical experience in cardiology or a medical specialty
  • Have experience of health data research or programming with R

An Honorary NHS contract will be sought for the successful post holder. You therefore must be eligible to hold an honorary contract with NHS Lothian, and must also be registered with the General Medical Council.

Salary will be determined on the basis of previous service in the NHS training grades. Normally you will be matched to your current incremental point or nearest equivalent. If you are currently a member of the NHS Pension Scheme and are employed in a clinical post it may be possible for you to remain a member of the NHS Pension Scheme.
