The role

We are seeking an exceptional clinical academic who will play a leading role in Orthodontic teaching at Bristol’s new Dental School. The Dental School is an outstanding state-of-the-art educational facility uniquely placed to deliver dental education at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. As a leader within the academic Orthodontics team, this key role will help shape the strategy of this discipline and lead the delivery the Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) in Orthodontic Therapy.

The candidate should have experience of developing and running undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes.  Evidence of teaching innovation with objective markers of teaching quality is highly desirable.

What will you be doing?

The appointee will be responsible for direct teaching of specific areas, aligned to their expertise, within our orthodontic curricula’s. Part of our education strategy is to have a strong emphasis on integrating learning across all disciplines and to develop postgraduate education for Dental Care Professionals. A key role of the appointee will be to develop and launch a PGDip in Orthodontic Therapy.

The Dental School has a strong proven track record in Orthodontic teaching at post graduate level and the appointee would be well supported to deliver this new programme working alongside an experienced dedicated teaching team, contributing to the Schools Education Action Plan (EAP).

The appointee will be a member of our Dental Education Committee, Dental Teaching and Dental Assessment Committees and play a significant role in dental quality management framework associated with the delivery of a post graduate diploma programme.

The successful candidate should have substantial experience of developing and running undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching programmes since the role requires active and enthusiastic commitment to School teaching. Excellent inter-personal skills will be necessary to foster collaborative approaches with existing research groups in the School and Faculty.

Salary: £56,502-£79,927 per annum pro rata
