Hull York Medical School are seeking to recruit a Clinical Senior Lecturer in Psychosocial Oncology.  We wish to build on our track record in applied, clinical and biomedical research by recruiting an outstanding individual with expertise in psycho-social oncology.

Hull has one of the highest incidences of and mortality rates from cancer in the country.  At Hull York Medical School and the University of Hull, we foster and promote translational research to tackle this area of need.  This post will be based within the Institute for Clinical and Applied Health Research (ICAHR) on the University of Hull campus, but the appointee will work closely with colleagues in Centre for Clinical Sciences, and our colleagues and partners within Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.  Together, we have ambitious plans to develop research collaborations and ensure improvement in patient outcomes through creating high quality learning environments where enquiring clinicians can flourish and answer research questions of scientific and clinical relevance.  Our focus is on addressing health inequalities in outcomes and experience for cancer patients and their families.

You will be expected to lead and contribute to the development and delivery of innovative impactful research studies, generating external research income and REF-returnable research outputs of international quality.  You will also be expected to deliver excellent teaching within our undergraduate and programs, as well as offering high quality undergraduate and postgraduate research project supervision.

You will be clinically qualified and we will work with you to obtain suitable clinical practice base.

We will appoint a candidate who aligns to our values:

Everyone Counts:     We promote a culture of diversity, respect and aspiration, and empower everyone to realise their potential.

Pursuing Excellence:     We combine a pioneering approach with innovative methods to drive excellence in all we do.

Socially Responsible:     We are dedicated to public service and to improving lives within our communities.

Collaborative:         We work in partnership, recognising the strengths of others.

We particularly welcome applications from female candidates, and candidates who identify as Black, Asian or from a Minority Ethnic background, who are under-represented in the University of Hull and within the academic staff group in the School.

To discuss this role informally, please contact Professor Una Macleod una.macleod@hyms.ac.uk
