We are seeking a number of exceptional individuals with a track record of clinical research to join the School of Medicine. We invite application from all areas of specialism, and also specifically vascular surgery and medical technology. The successful candidates will significantly enhance our clinical research, attract external funding and foster interdisciplinary links across the wider University and with NHS Tayside.

Principle duties and responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the clinical research activities of Medicine at the highest level (REF 3-4* quality) – publish in high quality research journals and present work at major international conferences
  • Be vigilant for appropriate opportunities to participate in interdisciplinary clinical research and knowledge exchange with other academic or industrial partners.
  • Support the full economic cost of research by generating appropriate grant income and/or industrial funding.
  • Supervise research, masters, and undergraduate students
  • Carry out teaching at undergraduate and post-graduate level, including contributing to enhancement of the student learning experience and scholarship.
  • Participate in the outreach and recruitment activities of the School as well as contributing to academic administration.
  • Contribute to the School’s academic and pastoral support for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
  • Contribute to the School’s research-led teaching and administrative duties.
  • Commitment to the values of the School of Medicine, University of Dundee.

Skills:

  • Ambitious research plans which will be competitive for UKRI, Wellcome , EU or equivalent Fellowship funding streams and/or for industrial funding mechanisms.
  • Evidence of ability and willingness to work collaboratively with others.
  • Ability to prioritise and balance competing demands.
  • Evidence of learning and teaching competence
  • Commitment to the values of the School of Medicine, University of Dundee.
  • Evidence of ability and willingness to work collaboratively with others.

Knowledge and qualifications:

  • MD/ PhD in a relevant subject.
  • Full GMC Registration
  • Evidence of ability to produce research outputs of internationally excellent quality.
  • Evidence of ability to generate external funding for research projects.
  • Experience of teaching at university (or equivalent) level
