Lancaster Medical School seeks to appoint a number of (up to 2.5fte in total) Clinical Teaching Fellows to join the existing undergraduate medical programme teaching team, to meet the needs for additional student numbers of our expanding medical school and enhance the delivery with a clinical approach to teaching and mentorship.  These posts would ideally suit someone who has completed their foundation training or is at core/early speciality training level, and is looking for a year-long ‘out of programme experience’ in medical education.

We will enable links with our clinical education partners to provide continued clinical experience alongside these medical education posts, as part of these unique, early portfolio career opportunities.

The postholder/s will work in collaboration with the academic, clinical and professional service staff in Lancaster Medical School and deliver teaching to medical students.  Preferred areas of focus within the curriculum are anatomy and clinical skills teaching but other areas of expertise will be considered.

You will be involved in all teaching, assessment and scholarly activity of our thriving Medical School, and should have the opportunity to gain experience of a range of small, medium and large group teaching. You will be supported in developing your knowledge and skills in medical education during this post.

The Faculty of Health and Medicine provides an environment that strongly supports the individual needs of each employee, promoting a healthy work-life balance. We are committed to family-friendly and flexible working policies on an individual basis, as well as the Athena SWAN Charter, which recognises and celebrates good employment practice undertaken to address gender equality in higher education.

The position is available from August/September and we are open to discussing job share opportunities/part-time working and flexible working arrangements including working week and days/hours worked, flexible start and finish times or condensed hours.

Lancaster Medical School is committed to ensuring our workforce is reflective of our diverse student population and is therefore committed to increasing representation of staff of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds across all roles and at all levels

For an informal discussion about the post, please contact Dr Martin Armer (m.armer@lancaster.ac.uk)
