About us:
The mission of the UCL GOS Institute of Child Health is to improve the health and well-being of children, and the adults they will become, through world-class research, education and public engagement. The UCL GOS ICH, together with its clinical partner Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, forms the largest concentration of children’s health research outside North America. GOS ICH’s activities include active engagement with children and families. The Institute offers world-class education and training across a wide range of teaching and life learning programmes which address the needs of students and professional groups who are interested in and undertaking work relevant to child health. GOS ICH holds an Athena SWAN Charter Gold Award.
About the role
The NIHR Great Ormond Street Hospital Biomedical Research Centre (NIHR GOSH BRC) is a partnership between GOSH and UCL GOS-ICH and aims to trans! form the health of children, and the adults they will become, by combining cutting edge research methods with world-leading clinical trial expertise, to accelerate discovery of new treatments for children with rare and complex conditions. The NIHR GOSH BRC Clinical Training PhD Studentship Programme aims to fund up to four clinical PhD fellows who demonstrate excellent potential to be paediatric translational researchers of the future. Successful candidates will complete their PhD degree at UCL GOS ICH and will apply for an honorary contract at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust. Applicants are expected to develop a project proposal as part of their application. Please see attachments on the UCL jobs page for this post for further information about the fellowship opportunity. The salary offered in this post is dependent on the applicant’s stage in training. Clinicians will be paid at the relevant Clinical Training Fellow StR Pay scale or JDPS. About you Applications are welcome from clinicians who demonstrate excellent potential to be paediatric translational researchers of the future. Applicants should hold a MB BS or equivalent primary medical qualification and be undertaking speciality training. They should be at an appropriate point in their training to undertake a PhD. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate their ambition to pursue a clinical academic career path and have a good grasp of the proposed project. The call is also open to wider health care professionals, including nurses, Allied Health Professional (AHP) staff, pharmacists and health care scientists, who demonstrate excellent potential to be paediatric translational researchers of the future, and they can apply to the call via a separate UCL job advert.
