The Peninsula Dental School are looking to appoint a proactive and enthusiastic individual to take on the role of Clinical Skills Technician.
You will provide technical support within the Simulated Dental Learning Environments (SDLE) for the delivery of undergraduate teaching and assessment and will be an integral member of the technical team. You will be working alongside other technicians and will assist on the day-to-day tasks.
You will be required to prepare and maintain a variety of dental equipment and consumables and will be expected to interact with academic/clinical staff and students to assess and fulfil their requirements.
This is a permanent, full-time position working 37 hours per week Monday to Friday. The role is based on main campus Plymouth, in the Portland Square Building. On occasions you may be required to travel to our other sites and this will include going to our Truro or Exeter campuses. Travel expenses will be covered outside of your main place of work.
Normal working hours will be 8:30am – 5pm. On occasions you may be required to work outside these times, but you will be notified of this in advance.
It is not essential for you to have experience with dentistry or even have a science background, we are looking for someone who is hard working, organised and has transferrable skills that you can apply to the role. Please don’t worry if you haven’t done a technical role before, this is a great opportunity to get into a technical role in an healthcare environment.
You will need to have:
- Awareness of health and safety in the workplace and willingness to do further training in the role.
- Experience of working in a teaching /training environment (desirable)
- Knowledge of how to set up presentations and videos (training will be provided)
- Previous experience of work within healthcare or dentistry (desirable).
- Previous experience of working with, and supporting student learning (desirable)
- Experience with Microsoft office package (word, outlook, PowerPoint etc)
