The role

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified GP who is interested in a teaching and leadership role in undergraduate medical education. The Community GP Lead (CGPL) is a two session role with CAPC Teaching – the undergraduate GP teaching arm of the Centre for Academic Primary Care.

We are looking for a CGPL to cover the Swindon patch promoting undergraduate GP teaching, provide quality assurance, delivering teaching and building relationships with local stakeholders, liaising with the central teaching team.

What will you be doing?

Teaching and leadership responsibilities

  • Have a substantive direct teaching role within the curriculum
  • Be involved in leadership aspects of Primary Care’s teaching offer
  • Supporting the local GP teachers
  • Supporting students in difficulty
  • Liaising with local stakeholders including out of hours providers, PCNs and other organisations
  • Assist with the recruitment of GP Practices.
  • Contribute to Primary Care GP teacher workshops
  • Attend the 30-50 minute mini-senior management team (SMT) meeting every Tuesday AM at 9am (online via Teams).
  • Attend the main senior management team (SMT) meetings three times per year

Administrative responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning and running of the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) for the year 3 and year 4 students.
  • Help local GPs maintain excellent standards in GP teaching
  • Where significant issues arise the CGPL will take action to explore further and help improve placement quality.

You should apply if

  • You are a highly motivated GP with a passion for teaching and leadership within the Swindon area
  • You have experience of delivering student teaching in general practice
  • You have demonstrable evidence of good organisational and leadership skills
  • You are self-motivated and able to work flexibly to meet the requirements of the role

Work pattern: Flexible but should include Tuesday mornings
