Computational Biology of Haematological Cancers at University of Leeds

The NIHR Leeds Biomedical Research Centre (leedsbrc.nihr.ac.uk) is an international centre of excellence which exists to provide infrastructure to support translational research across our 6 themes: musculoskeletal disease, cardiometabolic disease, surgical technologies, haematology, pathology and antimicrobial resistance. The NIHR Leeds BRC is hosted at Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust in partnership with the University of Leeds and the University of York.

As part of our award we are seeking to recruit to this new Data Scientist post where your computational research will address critical questions in the diagnosis and treatment of haematological cancers, including lymphomas, leukaemias and myelomas. In collaboration with research software engineers, the role involves building a federated data resource for haematological cancers, including clinical, multi-omic, digital pathology and radiology data, within a trusted research environment. With this in place, you will participate in a range of statistical and artificial intelligence projects with the broad aims of improving diagnosis, predicting outcomes, defining personalized treatment strategies and ultimately improving cancer care and survival. The role will work in collaboration the BRC core AI and data team and with other data scientist across the BRC as well as with epidemiologists at the University of York and clinical services in the NHS.
