The University is currently looking for an experienced, committed, and enthusiastic Senior Clinical Skills and Simulation Technicians to help provide dedicated, high quality, technical support in the Clinical Skills and Simulation Rooms for the Institute of Health & Social Care. The institute comprises of 2 Schools, the School of Nursing and Midwifery and the School of Allied Health and Social Care.
About you
You will have experience of working as a clinical skills technician in a higher education environment, good working knowledge and understanding of the typical simulation equipment used and be adept in configuring these for a variety of healthcare scenarios.
Your practical experience of working in a clinical environment (or simulated clinical environment) will also be key when faced with the troubleshooting typical problems encountered in bespoke sessions.
As a confident communicator you will be able to explain technical issues to those less experienced, and be able to provide high quality, customer focused technical support in a Higher Education environment.

The clinical skills and simulation rooms are maintained by a dedicated team of technicians who support students and staff in use of specialist equipment and related processes.
As an integral member of this team, you will present and demonstrate key technologies, facilitate practical sessions, and play a key role in ensuring that the environments and technical equipment run smoothly.
This is a highly specialised field with expertise frequently gained through in-role training. As a valued member of our team, we will provide the opportunities for you to develop your experience, knowledge and understanding of the wide range of systems, processes and techniques that an essential part of working in this environment.
The skills and experience you will need to be successful
A degree or equivalent educational/professional experience in providing technical support in a Clinical Skills and Simulation or Healthcare based discipline.
Significant experience in the use of specialised equipment related to clinical skills and simulation. (e.g., part-task trainers and hi-fidelity mannikins.)
Practical understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act and its practical application to risk management in professional / educational environments.
Details about the role and how to apply
This is a full-time campus-based role, based at the Croydon Campus. The working week will be 35 hours, worked from Monday to Friday; flexibly between 8:00 to 6:00pm, with a one-hour unpaid lunch break each day. Please note that due to the nature of the role start/finish may vary (as indicated above).
