Are you an exceptional academic and academic leader with a national or international profile in Nursing and Midwifery education, research, and practice?
Comprising approximately 150 academic staff and 4,500 students, of which 1,000 are at postgraduate level, Nursing, Midwifery and Health is the largest of five departments within the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. The Department is proud to educate health and social care students from all corners of the globe in foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate studies. We have five research groupings:
- Health Economics and Applied Statistics
- Implementation and Innovation research
- Living Better in Later Life
- The Northern Hub for Veterans and Military Families Research
- Workforce Education and Practice Development
We provide high-quality, research-informed education using a variety of innovative teaching and learning methods including a state-of-the-art clinical skills centre.
Reporting to the Faculty Pro Vice-Chancellor as a key member of her leadership team, you will provide strategic leadership and management of the Department, ensuring delivery of a high-quality student experience and outcomes. You will lead the Department’s focus on the priorities of research, professional practice, and employer engagement to support the University’s academic aims, including REF, TEF and KEF.
As a member of the Faculty Executive Group and of the wider University Academic Leadership Team, you will contribute to the development and implementation of the research and education strategy of both the Faculty and University.
We are looking for an exceptional candidate with a relevant academic standing and credibility, proven leadership and management experience, shared values, and ambition. The University is also seeking to make this a professorial appointment (meeting our professorial criteria) and you will be expected to and supported to be an active researcher.
