Applications are invited for a full-time, without term, Head of Speech and Language Therapy (Lecturer/Senior Lecturer). We are seeking applications from highly motivated candidates who will lead the development and delivery of new programmes in speech and language therapy at the University of Roehampton This is a unique opportunity to create brand new provision at this renowned institution, launching new pre-registration speech and language therapy programmes.
This role will be based in the School of Education, but with close links to our School of Life and Health Sciences, which has programmes in nursing and will shortly launch physiotherapy and occupational therapy.
To meet the growing demand for qualified speech and language therapists, we are expanding into this new area. We are looking for applicants with experience of this field either as a practitioner or in Higher Education who have the skills to work at pace to create high-quality provision. The role will initially focus on the creation of employer-led academic programmes, gaining accreditation with the relevant public sector bodies, creating a network of partnerships for placements and recruiting a strong team of lecturers. Once launched, the role will include programme leadership and teaching related duties.
You are expected to have a current HCPC registration and have a well-rounded understanding of speech and language therapy and healthcare education policy and practice. You will also contribute to the development and profile of Allied Health Professional education at the University through engagement with relevant research or knowledge exchange (this could include a range of activities such as engagement with clinical practice providers or professional bodies), and scholarly activity.
