Applications are invited for a permanent and a temporary post of a Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Radiography and Diagnostic Imaging within UCD School of Medicine.
Applicants must hold a primary qualification in Radiography and be eligible to register on the Radiographers Register, CORU. There are two posts: one permanent position and one five year temporary contract. A panel will be formed as part of this recruitment competition for a period of one year.
These posts offer an exciting opportunity to work in the Section of Radiography and Diagnostic Imaging in the UCD School of Medicine. The Radiography & Diagnostic Imaging Section is the national centre for undergraduate Radiography education, and we also offer a graduate entry radiography pathway and a range of taught graduate courses and CPD offerings. The posts will involve teaching and support of diagnostic imaging-specific modules and the provision of high-quality scholarship and contribution to the delivery and assessment.
The University will particularly welcome applications from those who can best further the development and integration of the Radiography and Diagnostic Imaging Section of the School and foster collaboration with other disciplines and institutions nationally and internationally.
Special conditions of appointment
As a publicly funded, research-intensive university, UCD conducts research and other scholarly activities aimed at advancing knowledge that informs public policy and disciplinary practices. For this reason, the basic entry qualification for a faculty appointment to the University is a PhD or an equivalent doctoral degree. The University recognises that, relative to other disciplines, there may be few doctorally-prepared members of the discipline in which this post is being offered. In recognition of this, the University may consider recommending candidates for appointment, who do not hold a doctoral degree. However, candidates recommended for appointment must demonstrate evidence of commitment to completing a doctoral degree within the lifetime of the contract period. This will normally involve evidence of current registration on a doctoral programme and a report from the candidate’s academic supervisor, indicating satisfactory progress towards completion of the ! degree. U niversity Boards of Assessors will not recommend a candidate for a permanent appointment in the absence of a doctoral degree. In making recommendations for appointment in the absence of a doctoral degree, Boards of Assessors also consider the level of professional experience and commitment to the discipline.
