About the role
We are looking for a Lecturer to join the Leicester Medical School (LMS) on a permanent basis. You will be working within the LMS to develop, implement, deliver and evaluate elements of teaching and assessment relating to the MB ChB and BSc in Clinical Sciences.
The BSc is a new degree based largely on our Phase 1 (pre-clinical) medical curriculum over the first two years, and completed with bespoke clinically orientated units and a research project in year 3, all in association with our School of Biological Sciences and Chongqing Medical University (CQMU) partners as part of a Joint Educational Programme (JEP) with CQMU. This offers unique opportunities and challenges and the requirement to travel to China to co-deliver teaching with CQMU colleagues, typically for four to five weeks each Semester, but to be planned in advance in discussion with the post-holder. In addition to being the Associate Unit Lead for the Unit(s) in LMS, you will lead in CQMU on co-delivery of two established Phase 1 Units – ‘Gastrointestinal System’ and ‘Clinical Pharmacology Therapeutics’.
You will also contribute – according to your interest and experience – to one additional area of teaching development (e.g. curriculum, assessment, pedagogy, quality, technology-enhanced learning) or student support (e.g. academic, pastoral, personal tutoring, accessibility and inclusive learning) within the JEP more generally.
About you
Alongside your PhD in Medical or Biological Sciences or a Medical Degree with evidence of a postgraduate scholarship, you will have substantial post-graduate teaching experience at a higher education institution or experience working within a clinical discipline. You will have knowledge of medically relevant laboratory skills as well as biological and anatomical sciences expertise.
Additional information
Informal enquiries are welcome and should be made to Dr. Shameq Sayeed at ss1254@le.ac.uk.
Shortlisting will take place in the week after the advert for this role closes, and we will aim to invite shortlisted candidates for interview in the week thereafter.
